Joshua Oluwayemi (born 13 March 2001) or simply Josh Oluwayemi is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Tottenham Hotspur Under 23 and the Nigeria national team.
Goalkeeper Josh Oluwayemi has risen through Tottenham Hotspur Academy ranks and, in October 2020, joined National League side Maidenhead United on loan for his first taste of senior football, where he remained until January 2021.
Early Life and Career
Joshua Oluwayemi comes from a family of goalkeepers. His father Biodun Ogunyemi was also a goalkeeper for FGC Odogbolu and the Ogun State University.
Born in Waltham Forest, London, England and raised in Harold Hill, he attended Emerson Park Academy in Hornchurch.
He joined Tottenham Hotspur youth team in 2017 and a year later his younger brother Tobi Oluwayemi also joined Tottenham Hotspur. Both brothers were youth team goalkeepers at the same club until 2020 when Tobi joined Celtic.
Joshua worked his way through the age grades at Tottenham and in January spent a six-month loan at Maidenhead FC.
Last season played 13 matches with 15 goals against and two clean sheets. Towards the last quarter of the season, he was promoted to the Tottenham senior squad where he remained until the end of the season.
In addition, Josh played two games apiece in the Under-18 Premier League Cup and FA Youth Cup during that season, while serving as the substitute goalkeeper for Spurs Under-19s in the UEFA Youth League on three occasions.
An England international at Under-16 and Under-15 levels, he was on the bench once for our Under-18s in 2016/17.The 20 year old is hopeful for playing time in the Nigerian match against Mexico.

Oluwayemi’s invitation became necessary after veteran Ikechukwu Ezenwa picked up an injury that ruled him out of the July 4 fixture.
